My name is Shahabaz Khan, and my
reasons for choosing to study AS Media came from first taking the subject at
GCSE level. There are specific areas that have prompted my continued interests
in a range of Media forms, and opened my eyes to different perspectives on how
the Media works. Through the close analysis and investigation into specific
Media industries, from the UK to America, I have been introduced to new and
unknown Media texts, but also I have learnt to apply the specific key words and
language to describe what I see. I am primarily interested in the particular
branding strategies that are used to win over the audience's attention and how
different genders view, and are attracted to, television and magazine adverts
and recent film franchises. I am also intrigued as to how the arrival of the
Internet has affected target audiences, as well as the way consumers engage
with different types of Media. This includes how Social Media, such as Tumblr,
Twitter, Facebook and Instagram can be used as a form of advertising to reach
the intended audience groups. Many of these topics require independent research
to be able to write an essay or exam, and I enjoy gaining the knowledge of
anything relating to gender stereotypes, ideologies, mise-en-scene, the business
of Media distribution and the audience and reception of multimedia forms.
Thankfully I received good
grades during my GCSEs to get into AS Media all thanks to my teacher. She put
her time in to help me and my class achieve the highest grades we could accomplish,
and I had fun learning specific kind of Media
.
